shibori verven

Enige tijd geleden heb ik met een paar vriendinnen stof geverfd. Ik had er nog steeds geen blog over geschreven, dus dat wordt hoog tijd. Ik had nog nooit wat gedaan met shibori verven en dat stond die dag op het programma. En wat een leuke resultaten kun je daarmee krijgen. Of je nu een plastic buis uit de bouwmarkt gebruikt of een petfles, het werkt allebei goed.

Some time ago I have done some fabric dyeing with a few friends. But I didn't write a blog about it. Now is the time to show you the results. I had never done shibori dyeing before. What a lovely results, don't you think? You can use plastic tubes from a hardware store, but plastic bottles as well.

En natuurlijk kun je op allerlei manieren de stof om de buis wikkelen.

There are a lot of different ways to wrap the fabric around the plastic tube.

Met natuurlijk steeds een verschillend resultaat. Behalve de stof naar beneden schuiven kun je de stof ook gevouwen om de buis wikkelen.

With all kind of different results. Besides a wild wrap you can make beautiful folds as well.

En dan had ik een paar weken geleden ook nog geëxperimenteerd met stof in gradaties verven van heel licht tot flink verzadigd. Ook die foto hadden jullie nog tegoed. Ook een heel bruikbaar resultaat.

Some weeks ago I have experimented with fabric dyeing in gradations from light to dark. This gives a very useful result.



Birmingham 2012

Afgelopen woensdag zijn we afgereisd richting Birmingham voor het Festival of Quilts. Eerst 's avonds naar de opening van de tentoonstelling van de European Art Quilts VII. Heel leuk om daar mijn quilt te zien hangen. En supertrots natuurlijk.

Last Wednesday we went to Birmingham for the Festival of Quilts. First we went to the opening of the show of the European Art Quilts VII. It is great to see my quilt hanging. I was so proud.

Ook is het genieten als je anderen naar je eigen quilt ziet kijken.

Someone else is looking at my quilt. That is so wonderful to see.

Nu natuurlijk ook in het rijke bezit van de catalogus van de European Art Quilts VII.

En dan is het ook nog prima gelukt om weer nieuwe inspiratie op te doen. Een flink aantal boeken rijker. De boeken van Claire Benn en Leslie Morgan hebben ook nog een dvd er in. Het was al genieten deze dames aan het werk te zien. Nu kunnen we er thuis ook nog van nagenieten.

I have a lot of new inspiration and a lot of new books. Some books (the books of Claire Benn and Leslie Morgan) even with a dvd inside. It is always great fun to see these ladies working in the virtual studio. Now we can watch them at home as well.

En natuurlijk ook nog wat hebbedingetjes als garens, verf, transferfolie, flakes, penseel en een schaartje. Ik kan niet wachten om hier weer mee aan de slag te gaan.

And some threads, paint, transferfoil, flakes, brush and scissors. I can't wait to experiment with it.

Nu maar weer over tot de orde van de dag. Gewoon weer met beide voeten op de grond. Maar wat heb ik de afgelopen dagen genoten. Ook zo leuk om mensen te treffen die je alleen kent van het internet.

Now back to work and with both feet on the ground. But what a great time these past few days. And so much fun to meet people I just knew from the internet.
